Lord Jesus, when you lived and worked and talked amongst men in Palestine, they called you teacher. Give me patience with those who are slow to learn and even with those who refuse to learn. Keep me from the sarcastic and biting tongue, and help me always to encourage and never to discourage those who are doing their best, even if that best is not very good. Help me to help the children, not only to store things in their memories but to be able to use their minds, and to think for themselves. You are to me a fountain Whence light and truth do draw, From you like pleasant streamlets The rays of wisdom flow. This called for a deep, thorough reflection on the whole existence of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross, especially on our Continent. The school follows the regulations and guidelines as determined by the Department of Education in as far as this is in accordance with the school's ethical and religious convictions. This means that the school is actually owned by the 'Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in Southern Africa. The Provincial Administration of the Sisters therefore has the responsibility and rights to make final decisions concerning the school. The school is in the process of receiving full accreditation from UMALUSI. With Mother M. Paula Beck, the third Superior General after Mother Bernarda, who was the first General to visit the Holy Cross Missions in South Africa, the doors to the world were opened to America and Asia: A mission had been started in Chile in 1901 and in India in Our Jubilee year 2007 brought changes for the whole Congregation. Looking back 100 years we owe a tribute to our many Holy Cross Sisters who have worked and prayed here and now rest in our Cemeteries near the Orange River.
